River outlook for 2011

We recently added 55 trees, 25 large boulders and, 20 ton of spawning rock to the river, from Brookie Pocket downstream to the property boudary, It was an excitng project, the trees and rocks will provide alot of cover and new holding areas for the fish, I can't wait for the season to open to do a little research, we are currently planning a big project for next winter on some other reaches of the river.

The river is in great shape this year with a nice population of Rainbow and Brook trout. We are above the 30 year average for precipitation so far this year which should keep the springs flowing well,

We have recently added more spawning rock in several places on the river and the ever elusive trout have been enjoying it. The population is running around 60% rainbows with lots of fish in the 18-24” range, We are doing some habitat work on the river this winter, placing logs and rocks that will add some more holes and cover.

he spring fishing should be great with a strong hatch of Pale Morning Duns in May. Then as soon as we get some 80 degree weather the Black Drake hatch will start, 90 degrees will bring out the hex’s , last year stayed cold until July and all the Black Drakes, Hex’s and mosquitoes came out at the same time , we will see what happens this year,

With the current snow conditions it looks like the Lake will have some needed run off this year and be fishing well. We will stock it as soon as the ice comes off.
